It may be the highest it's ever been under Obama's watch but it was the highest it's ever been, at the time, under the Bush Jr years too. I always amazed how Obama haters reference the Bush years like it was a better time. It wasn't....mass layoffs, company closings, mass foreclosures, sky rocketing fuel prices (by comparison)...I, like millions of others Bush supporters, lost almost everything. My retirement account dropped over $200k in three years essentially leaving me with nothing. While I'm not happy about everything the government has done since it's 100% better now. In the last three years my stock slowly but surely raised back to near it's original level. It also means because of the Bush watch I lost a huge amount in growth in addition to tangible assets that had to be sold to survive....no thanks, the Bush years were not good years.

I'm surprised " it's Bush's fault" didn't pop up sooner! Kind of the classic knee jerk reaction, and by the way, disagreeing with Obama's horrendous policies doesn't mean we hate him. You do know that Bush hasn't been in office for nearly 4 years don't you?

She was referencing that specific time. Facts flat out scare some folks around here - down with facts and on with rhetoric for our side.

You betcha, the 1920's were really bad too! Why don't we try to stay in the present once in a while. Obama has done a horrible job with the economy, you guys want to change the subject. It gets old after while.

Because you'll be more beholden to the machine if you get penalized for going off assistance. The machine wants your loyalty and your votes far more than it wants you to succeed. What's touted as "assistance" is given in the form of a guilded cage. If it were truly noble, it would come with the support and means to get off assistance eventually. :disappoin
Too true. I really can't stand it when the democrat party touts itself as being the champion for the "working man" or the poor. It's all to keep you on the public dime so they can get the poor vote to keep their thumb on you. I don't trust the republicans any more than the democrats but at least they don't pretend to be friends of the poor. Democrat pols scream "racist" at every turn but most of their social policies and public assistance policies for blacks and hispanics are just that.

Why don't we quit crying about folks bringing up legitimate discussion points on a discussion board? The only people saying "Its all Bush's fault" are sarcastic GOP zombies. Honestly, they sound just like Obama's zombies and it gets old. Rhetoric and funny drive-by post with the same tired talking-points in them don't do anything to further discussions.

No one's blaming Bush, we're talking about a larger economic down-turn than just what has been seen in the last 4 years.

Is Obama good for the economy? No. Was Bush? No. Did either president really have that much of an impact on the economy? No. Is it ok to compare unemployment numbers from this presidency to the previous administrations time-in-office? Not if facts aren't on your side.

Bush did everything in his power to be the $#!++iest president in history. It's not his fault that Obama was better at being a $#!++y president. That fact alone doesn't negate that W gave it a good go though man - he could have been a contender...

All I know is that the man who is responsible for the last 4 years is running again and I have the option to vote for him next Tuesday. I will not give him the opportunity to make it worse... he's proven himself for me. If somehow Bush were running, I'd say the same thing about him.
