Hi all. I'm new here as I was transferred from my job in Georgia a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately or should I say fortunately, I am wanting to purchase one more AR15.

Are any of you familiar on where or not I can purchase this weapon from this state without an OK license? I am in corporate housing until my home sells back in Augusta and I don't have any bills as my company is footing the bill until my former home sells, so I can't prove my legal residence is here yet or I would already have a DL here.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Had a guy at the gun show tell me military style were differently. First I heard so I thought I'd ask

A long gun is a long gun. However with all the media attention about how easy it is for people from restricted states to go and buy one at a gunshow dealers may be restricting sales themselves. A licensed dealer does not "HAVE" to sell you a gun. Its his license and livelihood on the line and he can pick and choose.
If he was a private individual it is against federal law to sell to someone not a resident of the same state.

I could see where some might refuse to sell a lower receiver, since it could be built as a pistol. That would be a questionable area it would seem like to me. But a long gun, transfered as "rifle" should be no problem, where it is an "assault" style or not.

A friend of mine was told that firearms in Oklahoma are ok to sell to Texas residents who buy here. I believe it was an Academy store that told him this when he asked about buying AR's as a texas resident here in OK. Supposedly Texas and Oklahoma have a "thing" that allows sales of firearms to Texas residents and vice versa. I haven't checked to see if this was legally true.

No problem as long as the sale is legal in both states. If you lived in a state with a mandatory waiting period, then the transfer wouldn't fly.

Q: From whom may an unlicensed person acquire a firearm under the GCA?
A person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State, except that he or she may purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle or shotgun, in person, at a licensee’s premises in any State, provided the sale complies with State laws applicable in the State of sale and the State where the purchaser resides. A person may borrow or rent a firearm in any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes.

"Military style?" Please tell me you didn't believe that outright lie. He either doesn't know what the hell he's talking about or just lies to people. Either way, you can buy an AR-15 while you're here in Oklahoma.
