I have a jeep Cherokee that I bought with the airbag deployed. I have a question for you car guys, when replacing an airbag do you need to change out any sensors?
Research it carefully before you install one, static electricity can set one off. We set them off manually during our auto extrication training. We pull the wires from behind the dash and touch them to a AA battery. Not sure if the sensors are a one time use or not.
From what I'm finding out is that they are mechanical not electronic.
Thanks 4Play, I know that I need to disconnect the battary for about 30mins before removing the old airbag but do I need disarm also?

I don't think so, I remove the replacement myself at Pull A Part.
There is a screw/bolt that disarms/arms the airbag its on the top of the air bag module, behind a little plug, I believe its an 8mm bolt. Then there should be 4 bolts on the back of the steering wheel and I think they are 10mm.
You dont have to be licensed or certified to replace airbags.
