Retroactive pay for govt workers?

I would think it means they are currently working with no pay and will be paid later for services already rendered. That would be my definition of retroactive pay.

In some cases they have authorized back pay for folks who were not allowed to report to work but yes in other cases it means back pay for folks who have been working without pay.

That is probably what that meant, pay for those that are presently working with out pay and i agree with that 100%.

What lesson are we trying to teach them? They aren't the target, they are a casualty.

That being said, I'm a federal employee and I don't think folks who did not come to work, for whatever reason, should be paid. When the dust settles I think that those who were sent home should be allowed to retroactively use annual leave or sick time for the furlough period. Paying people for labor not performed is the exact opposite of the message we should be sending to the country.
