Not sure if any of you remember this truck that I posted in this thread. He wouldn't come down from 2500 or something over the summer. Had no title and wasn't running for years. Fire damage rear tank. So who knows what all is wrong.

Now the truck has a different owner. Apparently the guy passed away that was trying to sell it. Now it's listed for 1500 obo supposedly with tite. Going to look at it Wednesday.

I want this one because the interior is identical to my 90 and everything else probably. Save a ton in parts over the years.

Went and looked at that blue truck. Agreed to buy it for 1000. The guy has the title from previous owner but it's not notarized. It's just signed. He tries to tell me hes never needed a title notarized, just signed.

I have had several people tell me this over the years and quite adamantly. Is there some provision I'm not aware of that allows a title to transfer without a notary stamp? I've never heard of that.

Google and the Magic 8 ball confirmed - the seller's signature on an Oklahoma vehicle title must be notarized. The ONLY way for it to be notarized is signing in front of the notary.
Yes that's what I thought. Just surprised by how many people try to insist otherwise over the years. They just don't know what they're talking about.

Or want to sell you a vehicle that ain't theirs. Did you look up the VIN and make sure it's not a '78 Pinto?
Haha. I didn't look anything up. I kinda want a 78 pinto though. I just told him to get it notarized and I will buy it. I may not hear from him again. I don't think he's pulling a fast one just doesn't want to mess with it.

If you are buying it for parts, why do you need a title? The govt will just charge you money to put it in your name.
I want the option of getting it running. Or selling it to someone else with title after I get the interior parts I want. A wheel or two. Swap bumpers. Always worth more with title. Without title I would pay much less. Hes firm at 1000. I won't pay that without those options.

Generally yeah they need to have the signature and notary part done properly. But if you find a good tag agent they can probably help you with a work around.. often times that work around requires contacting the original owner if possible. Something like proof of their ID and a written statement from them giving permission. There’s lost title processes also… I’m not certain all the options but I’m pretty sure strings can be pulled.
