It means the House Amendments to SB1733 have been read in the Senate. The next step will be for the Senate to vote on whether to accept the HAs. IF they accept, the bill goes to the Gov's desk.

I saw a major flaw in the news 5 story... they were comparing open carry without a license to open carry with a license. Of course there is a much better chance for criminals to open carry when no license is required. But in a state where a license is required AND police can check for a license at any time.. criminals would be silly to open carry.

It would have been a much more fair story if the reporter had focused on states that require permits... like the state of Tennessee.

The news story looked like a poor effort at staddling the fence.... leaning toward the anti-open carry side.

I just read that it is being sent to a conference committee. I know what they do in those. Both chambers get together and try to come to agreements on what they like and don't like about the bill. So hopefully they won't fight over it for a month. It seems like it is just going back and forth. Does anyone know where the bill will go once they have agreed on it in the committee?

Where did you read this? HB2522 was sent to a conference committee. There is nothing on the legislative bill tracking system about SB1733 going to conference committee.

With 2nd Amendment Day approaching, I was thinking how cool it would be if our governor had the opportunity to sign SB1733, SB1743, SB1760, and SB1785 on that day, May 8. Senator Schulz, the Floor Leader in the Senate has been a 2A supporter for a long time. Please call or email his office ((405) 521-5612 [email protected]) and ask that these bills be heard as soon as possible so our governor could sign them on May 8. SB1785 has already been referred for enrollment, meaning it is headed for her desk.

Oklahomans with concealed handgun permits would be allowed to carry their weapons in the open if a bill that easily passed the House of Representatives becomes law.

But members defeated an amendment Thursday that would have allowed for the open carrying of handguns anywhere without a permit.

Senate Bill 1733 would allow anyone possessing a license to carry a firearm under the Oklahoma Self Defense Act to carry the weapon either openly or concealed. It passed 85-3 and is headed for a conference committee.

It also would allow a property owner to openly carry a handgun on his or her land. No concealed carry permit would be required.

“This makes sure that it’s very clear that someone can carry on their own property openly,” said Hickman, R-Fairview, the House author of the measure. I read this over at USAcarry.com It is also listed on a number of other news websites.
