School me on AR charging handle upgrades

So the RAPTOR appears to have dual latches on both sides, do both latches need to be used, or does applying pressure to just one of the latches work? <--noob question.

Either latch operates both sides. I actually wondered the same thing when I first got it.

Why not just get a side charging AR and do away with all this charging handle nonsense. It's obviously the weakest part of the ar-15 platform.

I have the BCM Large Mod 3. I'ts a little big for the way I carry. I would like to swap it out for a med or an ambi.

You're good enough to only carry one type.

The GI CH that I broke, I did during clearing a jam. The nose of it broke off when I was pulling on it. The others I've witnessed cracked around the nose and the roll pin broke.
