The idea of open carry. Runs counter to how I conduct myself in public. That is in Stealth Mode. I want no one to remember I was there. This has served me well in the last 14 years of
professional carry. I see no reason to change now.

This is me, as well. Though I fully support OC and the second amendment right to do so and the passing of this law.

(though I still think a permit to carry is unnecessary for a "right")

That's what that means, And there is more!

you can OC on your private property without a permit
You can have gun uncovered in your car (remember today you must have the gun conclealed)
The word "concealed" is striken in the SDA as we currently use it.

Handguns only folks!

You can bring ammo along with your gun to your work parking lot

You must present a SDA card if challenged by LEO while in OC mode

He cannot disarm you unless your a suspect in a crime

No prememtion by local towns or counties

If I missed anyting please add... but that's the high points
I believe Federal Court rulings override this. An officer is allowed to disarm a person for the duration of a stop for his own protection. I would be careful telling folks that they cannot be disarmed. I believe its a Terry Stop.
They do not actually have to suspect you of a crime they can just say it looked like you were about to commit one.

And you are probably correct. The added language is there to preclude or discourage an officer from simply disarming a person or restraining him as a punitive thing on a OC stop.

As I read it ... you can be disarmed for "officer safety" on a CC stop ... I don't have a problem with that as long as it's not simply an officer hassling a legal citizen.

That being said... the right the officer has to demand a permit will short circuit some of the dumb stuff we see in YOU Tube videos were "militant" OCers have to make a point because their state laws are not clear. (MO can be a hassle in KC Metro and St Louis because of this issue)

Was it 1733 that prohibited municipalities from charging OC'rs with disturbing the peace, public nuisance etc or 2522? Without that prohibition I can see some cities and towns having their police forces doing just that.

yes... that is in 1733. I think that the authors saw the possibilty of punitive actions by officers and added those points to adress those potential abuses.

The other language about cities and local political divisions concretes the lack of preemption of state laws here in OK.

I'd guarentee Norman OCK Stillwater and few other towns would try that if they could.

That local option makes a minefeild in Missouri...you can carry in 95% of the State.. but it changes yearly and it's hard to find a list of towns that wrote forbiding ordinances.
