The idea of open carry. Runs counter to how I conduct myself in public. That is in Stealth Mode. I want no one to remember I was there. This has served me well in the last 14 years of
professional carry. I see no reason to change now.

I think that is very wise, this law gives us a choice. If you don't want anyone to know that's your business.

And there is no reason you should.

I'd like to do some real radical things...Like get my mail without a sweater over my gun... and take my coat off when I drive.

I carried all day in Joplin MO yesterday. Ate in public, went to Walgreens drove with my shirt in and my gun OUT.

Not only did no body try to snatch my gun... hell, NO ONE LOOKED twice...Including 3 Joplin uniforms.

Some of you folks (and I hope you know who you are) need to get real already.

I saw a handful of people open carry when I lived in Louisiana. I always thought they were LEOs when I saw them. Then later in the day.. "oh, right, they were probably just OCing"

I was in line behind some guy OCing at the 7-Eleven here, he was in camo bdu pants and a grey polo shirt. I didn't think anything of it. Then he got into his squad car.
Nobody was freaking out, nobody tried to take his gun.

lets see...3% of your neighbors have the permit to do this... 7/8's of Oklahoma is dead quiet during the day.

If we assume that 1% of the 3% actually open carry... and SOMEONE actually sees a gun and calls it in....

I will assume you have no plausible experience in OC... The odds of seeing somebody walking with a gun is pretty low in places where it's allowed. In those placed were it does go noticed the officer rides by, makes contact, asks what's going on, reads the situation and goes to fight real crime.

I know of one case in Arizona where a New York City type freaked, called a cop on a OC person and ended up in jail for causing a scene.

Police will not refuse to provide service... but I can assure you that dispatchers will start asking "is it in a holster, and what's he doing right now?" When the caller says, "he's trying to decide "Tide" or "Bargain Brand"... oh God NO- he's picking up some Pepsi!", expect that call to go low priority.

I am sure everyone in Oklahoma knows . Oklahoma just got a big win for legal gun owners. Open carry with a permit goes in effect November 1st. So if you see someone open carrying a firearm please don't be alarmed. It is someone exercising their 2nd amendment rights.

The only bad I see is the media. You will not hear anything new about the murders in October. The first murder after November 1st will be linked back to the new open carry law.
