Sorry that educating those 2 %ers will cut into your donut time, Foggy.:wink2:

Dont be Diss'n on my "Energy Rings"!!!

Most of the public when they hear open carry envision pearl handled six guns in fine leather tooled holsters or semi autos in shoulder rigs. When they see someone with a gun not in one of those, like a black (evil) glock in an IWB appendix holster or some other rig thats where the hysteria will come in. It will blow over as they become more accostomed to seeing open carry. But frankly I still see a few tense encounters between Leo's and oc'ers until it becomes more "normal".
We've been talking about how to approach people in those cases without offending or seeming to cautious.... Suggestions would be appricated(maybe a new thread is needed) I can always tell when I stop someone on traffic that hangs around here or other responsible sites vs those who just started or are just winging it. My favorite was the guy who had half his body out the window, hands in the air and yelled "I have a gun!!" as I approached. We talked about better ways to notify in the future. And I think he joined up here..

I don't think so. The Federal rulings merely say that the US Constitution doesn't forbid an officer from disarming you during a stop; if the state chooses to set a more-restrictive policy for its officers, the state's restriction would be effective.

If the officer is foolish enough to disarm you simply because you're carrying openly and expresses such, sure. If the officer in any way feels reasonably threatened by the OC'er, then all bets are off. This law issues a very narrow restriction. Don't mistake that for immunity from being disarmed, because it's not.

Would you also say that we ought to have permits and standards for, say, the exercise of religion? I could point to all kinds of ill effects arising from the irresponsible exercise of religion, but we don't have to go ask Daddy Government's permission to exercise that right.

Just because nine people in black robes say something doesn't make it so. If it did, we'd still be forcibly sterilizing people with low IQs (Buck v. Bell), imprisoning entire races (Korematsu), and sending our kids to segregated schools (Plessy).

No. Perhaps you didn't read my post carefully enough. :(

Kelly Ogle really is a dufus .Every time I read or watch his "My 2 Cents " I just want to slap the stupid out of him. And sad thing is he has a sheeple followers that hang on his every word. I just posted the following .
Do you people seriously think a criminal will wait around for cops to show up? Also what criminal would dare open carry when a cop can walk up to them and ask for there permit? It seems like everyone is okay with someone else losing their Constitutional freedoms. But when it comes to that person then it is wrong. I don't agree with what a lot of people say but they have that right. People may not like it if I decided to open carry but again it is my right. People really have no clue about criminals. Criminals want easy targets. That's why schools are popular targets. No gun signs just tell a criminal where to commit their next crime.

One thing I will hand to him was during his segment on Tuesday night, he said he supports concealed carry. While ideally we should have Constitutional Carry, it's just sadly refreshing to hear an otherwise liberal media personality voice support for carry of any kind.

Just saw this in the Oklahoman. Apparently EVERY TIME the police see some one with a gun unconcealed in a holster, they will ask for a permit.

Maybe it would be a good idea to get one of those little plastic license carriers that clip on your belt or a lanyard or something so you don't constantly have your time wasted for exercising a right.

Better idea, maybe several hundred of us should visit that area and see how well that works for them??

I'd drive the 2 hours to participate, just to piss them off!!

Governor Fallin Signs ‘Open Carry’ Legislation into Law

OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Mary Fallin today signed into law Senate Bill 1733, a measure that allows Oklahoma citizens to openly carry firearms. The bill permits those who are licensed, or already have been licensed, to carry a firearm under the Oklahoma Self Defense Act to openly carry a weapon or conceal it. It also allows property owners to openly carry a firearm on their property without a concealed carry permit for the purpose of self defense.

To receive a license under the Oklahoma Self Defense Act, applicants must take a firearms safety and training course and submit to a background check by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Those convicted of felonies and certain misdemeanors may not receive a handgun license.

With Governor Fallin’s signature on SB 1733, Oklahoma becomes the 25th state with either “permissive open carry” laws (no permit required) or “licensed open carry” (permit required). Oklahoma now joins Utah, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Hawaii and Massachusetts as a “licensed open carry” state.

“As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and a gun owner myself, I’m happy to sign this bill into law and grant law-abiding citizens the ability to openly carry firearms,” Fallin said. “Senate Bill 1733 sends a strong message that Oklahoma values the rights of its citizens to defend themselves, their family and their property. It does so in a responsible way, by requiring those citizens who choose to ‘open carry’ to undergo both firearms training and a background check.”

Businesses may continue to prohibit firearms to be carried on their premises. SB 1733 prohibits carrying firearms on properties owned or leased by the city, state or federal government, at corrections facilities, in schools or college campuses, liquor stores and at sports arenas during sporting events.

The bill was sponsored by Senator Anthony Sykes and Representative Jeff Hickman.

“I want to thank Senator Sykes and Representative Hickman, as well as the entire Legislature, for their commitment to protecting the Second Amendment rights of Oklahomans,” Fallin said.

Some of you were wondering where the press got the information that liquor stores would be in the places that are off-limits to firearms. It would appear that this information came from the press release from the governor.

And while I am happy that she signed it as well, I'd like to urge you all to please be careful come November 1st. I intend to OC that day as well, but only on my own 80 acres. I don't intend to OC except on my own place even if is legal. I'll be shooting one of my EBR's (probably my Remington 7615)to celebrate this victory for gun-owners.
