Maybe I'm wrong but , once he ran away he was prey. I think if he had stood his ground and started throwing some of those large rocks , she would have ran off sooner.
I walked in the woods for years without a gun. Many times at night. I never felt the need to carry until the hogs started being a problem. Then my 357 become my walking buddy.

I was on a run on Alaska about 7 years ago. Right in the middle of the trail near the end of the run there was a very large pile of dung. As I got within a few feet of it, I could tell it was still steaming. [emoji50] That last 500 meters was my fastest of the 10K race. The person that finished just ahead of me said they didn’t see anything in the trail. [emoji50]
