Finally got to shoot my new Kimber Solo CDP yesterday and I was very excited. Unfortunately, my excitement turned to disgust when it would fire a single round then have a failure to feed. I didn't understand it and neither did my BFF. I cleaned had it prior, used very little oil as per manual, and was using recommended ammo. We both began to think all we had heard about solo reliability and kimber quality control were true. After every round I had to pull the slide back just a little bit and I could never use the slide release. We tried different ammo, I disassembled/reassembled the gun multiple times on the bench, and poured over the instruction booklet to make sure I had done everything. We were perplexed, pissed off, I was disgusted and ready to leave but she convinced me to stay thinking maybe if it were broken in more it would work. We fired some more and she noticed the slide kept locking, I said "yeah it does that every time!", and turned the gun on its side. I said "Oh! Wait a minute, I think I figured it out!" Seems there is a little spring which slips into a groove on the slide pin which wasn't in the groove. It is barely noticeable and wasn't something mentioned in the manual. I pulled the slide pin out and reseated it. Final test and Viola! It fired perfectly! Every recommended ammo type we had bought worked flawlessly! Amazing and fantastic little gun!

Maybe this experience will help another with the same problem...... :-)

Glad you figured it out. It sucks to pay hard-earned money for a gun only to find out that it won't work right (you need not ask me how I know). Hope you continue to have good luck with your Solo!

That "typical Kimber", once we realized and fixed the assembly problem, ran like a sewing machine :-) . Her other Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II also runs just as well so I'm pretty happy with typical Kimber's. I've got my eye on a Kimber Pro Covert Carry II now...

Being old as I am, I wonder, what ammo have you fired/run through it?
