Received a telephone call last week from a man who said he was in the area and wanted to sell me some gravel for my drive. The number he called from was a San Antonio area code. Never heard of the company he mentioned and couldn't find it on a Google search. The price he quoted was twice what it really cost.

My son was coming home from school and saw a flat bed truck drive to the end of the street and pull in my drive. He pulled in behind the guys not knowing who they were. My son gave the guy my phone number for the call. I spoke with a neighbor who said no one came to his house to solicit.

Either "gypsies" from out of town trying to scam or someone casing the place. Sure didn't feel right.
Now the alarm is set every time we leave and the protection is a little closer at all times.
Anyone else have this happen?????

Some reports of bogus AT&T and electric co reps getting into peoples' homes and stealing stuff recently. Think I had a pair on my porch a while back.

Not related to the OP, but current criminal activity. Did have a weird guy wanting to give me an estimate on my perfectly good roof the other day. Told him I wanted to take his picture and he hauled ass.

OP, sounds like the migratory group that used to be called the "Terrible Williamsons" many years ago. They work harder at scamming than they would need to do if they provided real value.

Sounds kinda like the people coming into my neighborhood in an unmarked van going door to door offering to clean your floors. Say they are from Arkansas.

We had a couple of young women, who were definitely out of place in my gated neighborhood, going door to door. When I called through the intercom system and asked her what she wanted, she stuttered and stammered. I told her to get to the point, and she still spluttered. Finally, I asked her if she was soliciting and told her we didn't buy or donate. Her smily, happy attitude quickly changed to a snarly, "alright then!" As she stumbled off my porch. Later we got an email about these girls soliciting donations because they "are single mothers and need some help." Can you imagine? Going door to door just asking for money? Not even a sales pitch or scam. Guess they were too lazy to think something up!

I was driving down the street the other day when two guys in a Suburban pulled up next to me. The driver motioned for me to roll down my window. Thinking something was wrong with my truck or maybe they needed directions I rolled it down. The driver asked me if I wanted a brand new flat screen TV. I told him no but he kept insisting that I take it off their hands. Both of them said it belonged to the company that they worked for and they were pissed at their boss and wanting to give it away. I finally agreed but told them I lived about 20 miles out of town and asked them if they would deliver it to my place of employment. They said yes so I told them to follow me. When I pulled up in front of the county court house they kept right on going.
