It could, but as stated earlier there's more and more antibiotic resistant strains emerging. Some People will start a treatment plan but fail to follow through with it out of fear of deportation, others feel better so they stop getting treated before finishing the treatment plan, still others are exposed to several different strains due to the environment and location they are in(homeless, schools, housing, work) creating new resistant strains.

Doesn't sound "encouraging" but if I test positive, you can bet I'll follow through.

When in Jr High the Nowata County Health Dept sent a nurse to give us TB tests. The test is done with a thin needle on a syringe, the test serum is shot just under the skin and it leaves a little blister. Then she came back a week or so later and looked for any reaction at the injection point. While no one tested positive, there were some that showed minor reactions, which meant the person at some time had been exposed, but not infected.
Anyway, the funny thing is the nurse used the SAME needle and syringe on every student! After each student she held the needle in the flame of an alcohol lamp till it was red hot, then cooled it in alcohol before yelling NEXT!
