I can take or leave the traditional Thanksgiving meal. We’ve had a fish fry on Thanksgiving several times.
I love all of it. Part of my linage goes back to the survivors of the pilgrims in Plymouth MassachusettsWho chose the traditional menu? Do people REALLY like all that stuff?
I don't like turkey
I don't like stuffing
I don't like sweet potato/yams
I don't like cranberry stuff
I don't like pumpkin pie
For real, how did THAT become "tradition".
Gimme a steak and mashed potatoes...I'm good.
They did. However, the pilgrim's raided the native's food stores and the rest is history.Didn’t the Indians start all that turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce to begin with? LOL
We're doing ribeye's/baked potatoes, shrimp, scallops and stone crab claws.
Oddly, that's exactly what we're having this year with apple pie and leftover birthday cake and ice cream. So tasty people from KFC come over afterward to lick OUR fingers.Who chose the traditional menu? Do people REALLY like all that stuff?

Pecan pie is what GOD eats for desert.Pecan pie is equally as blah as pumpkin pie.
Green bean casserole I guess is OK. I'd never make it, but I'd take it over basically anything on my first list.
