I would contend Chocolate.

I'm a strong believer that chocolate or bacon can make anything taste better. One or the other, but not both. I once learned, very late at night while bored that chocolate and cherry tomatoes do not mix.

(Had been doing chocoloate strawberries for a friend's wedding the following day, we'd run out and the bride was still doing whatever brides do...)

I would challenge that by all the websites selling chocolate covered bacon.

Chocolate covered bacon is good, I had a batch at the fair. It was mostly like eating crispy chocolate (hard to explain, maybe), but a few meatier bites added a nice salty, smoky flavor to the chocolate.

It was like 2 contradicting flavors combined to make a super awesome powerful flavor.. think salt on a watermelon.

Alton Brown devoted a whole episode of Good Eats to how salt makes sweet things taste better. He was actually adding salt to chocolate covered cookies. Of course all of us accomplished watermelon eaters already knew this.

My wife thinks I'm "stupid and gross" for salting my watermelon. I tell her to shut her f'n mouth before I shut it for her.

I sprinkle it on oranges and tomatoes, too.

Not to distract the conversation too much but....

My wife and I both salt watermelon. However, she salts apples and I salt plums. We both think the other is weird for doing this.
