My father has an XD in 40 Cal. He's had it in the field hunting hogs, takes it with him deer hunting, shoots solid groups at 15 yards, and he even took it to Alaska with him. With regards to reliability, he told me he dropped in a river in Alaska and pulled it out muddy. He rinsed it off in the river water and finished his trip. When he came home we took it to the range and fired 50 flawless rounds through it without cleaning it first. Personally, I don't care for the XD, but I cant deny that my dad has a good one.
