We offer $15 for three kids per hour...in our home. Stocked fridge and dinner ready to go or pop in the oven. Order a movie if you want once the kids go to bed. Good sitters are hard to find so we try to treat them good.

We usually get our sitters from the same daycare the kids go to, so the girls are trained in CPR and first aid etc...and the kids already have a relationship with them.

We found a certified baby sitter with 20+ years experience in our neighborhood for $125/wk or $30/day drop-off. Works out great, since my wife works only part time.

Maybe my math is wrong, but 8:00-6:00 is a 10 hour day, 5 days a week, for a total of at least 50 hours.

Pay is $300, divided by 50 hours comes to $6 an hour.

That's not even minimum wage.

Or is that $300 just for Wednesday and Thursday?

It was a lot more than I wanted to type, but our schedules are flexible she usually only ends up working three days a week and my wife gets off at 3p on m, t and f. Also we pay her cash and dont claim her on our taxes. Whether or not she decides to claim the income is her choice but we take a huge hit on her behalf by not claiming it.

I will also add that we placed our ads searching for child care providers and did not specify a price. We found who we liked, asked her rate and she told us. So yes I'm proud of myself. Of course I'm sure when someone posts a gun for sale in the classifieds for cheaper than the going rate, you guys make sure to pay them more than they asked right?

So she is a full time nanny, house maid, buses your kid, and cooks for you too. Sounds like slave wages for that labor. If Old Phart and I are correct about your setup, I hope you are proud of yourself.

Unless he's got her locked in a room at night with a chain around her ankle, I don't see what the problem is. It has been stated many times on this forum, "if you don't like your job, quit and find another." If she's not happy with the arrangement, nothing is forcing her to stay. I personally haven't had a nanny, but 1200.00 a month to drop off someone's kids at school and do a few loads of laundry, doesn't sound to bad.

My kid got herself certified when she was like 15 or 16 and babysat for tons of their church friends kids all thru highschool and now she's 20 and a college kid who still babysits a little when she is home from school. Think she gets between $15-20 for multiple kids, maybe less for singles.
