Well, I went and there isn't much going on at all. There's one antique shop and one thrift store. I found a cool book about historical US flags in the thrift store and the ladies running the place just gave it to me for free along with a bottle opener that I picked up, so I can't complain about the people - everyone I met was real friendly. Wife was only occupied for about an hour and a half so those little shops kept me occupied for most of the time. There does appear to be a little burger joint there that I would've tried but I wasn't hungry after the gas station burrito I picked up in Maysville.
And it seems R&R is no more - I asked a couple of the locals and they all said no gun shop & no pawn shop. They may also have THE SMALLEST operating Walmart in the world, I've seen bigger Dollar Generals - it was a flashback to my childhood to see it.
I know why he said that having been there now, given the total number of structures in that tiny little town there is an EXTRAORDINARY number of oilfield businesses out there they're like 5 to 1 to everyother kind of business.
Chickashsa isn't too far back up the road. Or you could go hang out on Alex. Grandparents lived there. Spent many a summer there. Lindsay was the nearest swimming pool.
