I still haven't seen any .223 at a Wal-Mart in the past month, but I have no problem finding .40 or .45. I found them both at several Wal-Mart stores today. The .22lr and 9mm is a little harder to find. I've picked up some of both in the past week and another few boxes of 9mm this afternoon.

Walmart here in ada has a two box per caliber limit.

When did this start?

Last time I was in there I got a few boxes and there is one lady who was bitching about people buying ammo and how she thought we should not be able to buy any at all.

There are 2 guys who work the counter, both have the same name, that dont care how much you buy.

Unless of course bitchy associate got her way and they now limit.

The only way to combat this, sadly, is to raise the shelf prices temporary, and to institute rationing (limit purchases). Rationing probably will have limited success, as people will find ways to have other straw purchase. The price is going to have to go up, until the frenzy has ended. But, sadly again, when shelf prices rise due to shortages, it takes a long long time for them to ever return to where they were pre-shortage.

If shelf pricing rose, and there was more profit in it for the manufacturers, they might up production to capacity, hire a few people, add a couple shifts, produce enough to end the shortages, which will in turn end the profiteering.

We have a pretty good idea of how this is going to end, we just don't know when.
Raising prices is a rationing device. That's how the market is supposed to work: an increase in price causes a reduction in quantity demanded.

Would have been funny to tell her that you thought women shouldn't be able to vote but civil rights don't work that way so tough **** for both of us. The look on her face would have been priceless.

It was after the 2008 election / ammo shortage. I thought the limit was six boxes though.

If you dont like them limiting purchases, call 1800walmart and complain. We went thru this a few years ago with HotWheels cars, Some stores were trying to limit how many cars we could buy at a time. At that time their official stance was something like, we are in the business of selling goods, not limiting the sale of goods. Not sure if this policy has changed since then.
And it wasnt me that bought all the ammo, but I think someone is pulling a fast one here. I was in there around 3 and there was a cart with ammo in it behind the cash register in sporting goods. A couple guys were having a employee go thru it, no 223 though, thats all I heard them asking for. I didnt dig thru it myself to see exactly what was there.

I was in the Walmart in Moore a couple weeks back buying some AK ammo, and the lady kept telling me people like me are crazy thinking Obama's going to take our guns and ammo away. She said she's been selling ammo for years and it's always like this during Duck Season, haha... She was dead serious. I told her you'd have to be one hell of a shot to duck hunt with an AK, and she looked at me dumbfounded. She was clueless, she said "Well that's what people buy it for"... haha... Shook my head and walked away with my ammo.
