You want a REAL hardcore HM band??

F'n SLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except Metallic was never a "Heavy" Metal band, like MegaDeth it's Thrash Metal.
Heavy Metal bands like Slayer, Pantera, Sepltura, then the Death Metal guys like Cannibal Corps, Celtic Frost etc are true to the "Heavy" in the Metal.
I like all forms of Metal, Thrash being one of my favorites. But all the bands i just named have stayed pretty true to original form over their careers except Metallica. There is no way you can say Metallica's last 3 albums are as "Metal" as their first 3. In fact the last 3 are not even Metal at all, it's more hard rock at best. That drastic change in their style is where the "sell out" label comes from in the Metal Head crowd. Real Metal bands have attitude and care only about Metal and don't care what the media, labels or any of the other corporate crap says or does. Those guys do what they want when they want, they make real metal cause it's what inside them. As Metal fans that's what we want and we feel that attitude in the music. Metallica use to be that way.
71Buick, no matter how bad you want to deny it and point fingers at other bands or their members flaws, Metallica does not make Heavy or Thrash Metal music anymore. To true metal heads that is "selling out"...

You're telling me that Death Magnetic was not Metal? It sure as hell isn't nickleback or any of that other crap out there. DM was a great album. Bands styles develop over time, they all do, except Godsmack, only the words change with those guys, every song sounds the same. Do I love EVERY song Metallica has made? no of course not, I didn't even like load or reload when they came out, but I still love Metallica.

AllOut- If you really want to get into sub-genres, then you need to get your facts straight. Metallica would technically be classified as thrash. Slayer, Pantera and Sepultura would be in same thrash metal genre as well. Traditional Heavy Metal bands were the originals- Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, etc.

I don't usually get that deep into the sub-genres, because it's all just heavy metal in the end, but if you really want to break it down, there you go. Metallica, megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax are considered to be the top of the Thrash food chain.

If you really want to get into the culture and bands of metal, I highly suggest this series. It is really cool, I learned some stuff I didn't know, and I have been a metal geek for 25 years.

Death Magnetic was overcompensation for St. Anger... While the lyrics blow, it was nice to hear Kirk kick @ss again. (and while Lars is a level 99 doucher, he is one he'll of a drummer)

Yep, that's exactly what he's telling you. I'll never forget the time that the New Knumbskulls were out there promoting their latest album "Eat Death Scum" They sang about canibalism, necrophelia, and cities burning in the night.
Suddenly the old Knumbskulls sued them for copyright infringement, and the future looked bleak.

I said Metallica was thrash...
When i think of true Thrash Metal it's all the Calofornia/Bay area guys. Metallica, Testament, Exoduse, MegaDeth Etc. Ya Slayer is from California but their style is in no way like Metallica.

As far as Death Magnetic not being Metal... It's not even close. Your right though, it's not like NickBack but is still just as not Metal.
You mean to tell me you think DM is as comparable to 13 or End Game? Remember, Metallica use to be on the same level as Slayer, you think DM is as metal as World Painted Blood??? Does Hetfield and Hammett have the attitude and balls that Hanneman and King "still" have?
