If they already knew that I took the time and spent the money to legally carry my firearm, I think that pointed guns, opening with "get on the damn ground" and putting a knee in my back was a little bit overkill. How do people get the dash camera videos? I'd like to relive this once.

FOIA request.

Like GTG said. Get a copy of the report.

If it were me I'd want to know if they actually saw the gun or saw it printing. I'd also be curious to know how the officer knew you had a permit "before he pulled you over". Did they tail you for long enough to run a criminal check? Bottom line is if it's not accurate, I would fight it if it were me, provided OSBI does something that is.

Looks like your out of luck on the knife and that really sucks. That's why I don't carry an assisted opener. I find it a little odd that with your permit you can carry a loaded gun but not an assisted opening knife. Our knife laws suck and we need open carry big time.

I was talking to an ORA member awhile back and pointed out this scenario and got the "nobody gets in trouble" line and also "we'll have rednecks with strap-on thigh holsters running around" line. I pointed out that the 40 odd other states that have open carry don't have an issue. His reply was "sure they have cases of the rednecks" (paraphrased), like that was enough right there to not have open carry. I could see that is was going to get nowhere, so I just left him with if "rednecks" were a real problem the Brady bunch and News Nazis would be blasting us with it every day, and I let it drop with that.

I think this was handled very poorly. I would be pissed. If they knew you had a ccw and you were just riding down the road it sounds like illegal search and seizure and brutality. I would be really offended. It seems they should have never have found your knife. It was unintentional display you weren't showing to intimidate some one like don't mess with me. buy pulling up your shirt or unholstering it. They should be getting classes for how to treat a citizen before they start getting sued and god knows they are already in need of more money to keep the creeps of the streets, kind of counterproductive if you ask me. Have a paranoid cop get your pd sued and need to pay for the lawsuit and defense of the cop. I hope all the law I meet sees I'm no threat to them, but if people keep getting treated like this they will be a threat to us and thats no good.

I was riding my motorcycle with an IWB small of back holster today. A policeman was on my tail in a school zone. I wasn't speeding, but he lit me up anyhow. Once I pulled over, he had me at gunpoint and directed me on the ground. He said he saw a gun on me, I guess the wind blew my shirt up just enough for him to see. I tried telling him I had a permit. Two other units pulled up, I got a knee to the spine, cuffed, searched, and put in the backseat of the car. They took my wallet, gun, kabar TDI, and pocket knife. once they found out I wasn't a murderer or criminal, they were the friendliest people. They ended up keeping my pocket knife because it was an assisted opening knife. I'm still not sure about that one. They are going to forward this police report to the osbi. What do you all think will happen to my permit? He said this is the first time this has happened in stillwater. just my luck. Also, the officer said that he ran my tag, and knew I had a permit before he pulled me over. That being said, was the gun pointed at me a little too much?

I wish open carry would go through. This is just another reason we need that law. If OC were legal, this would have never happened to me.

Wow, I saw this event and was wondering what the heck was going on. South side of the street right?????? Wow, small world

I read through this post and am beside myself. To me there seems to be a lot of Monday morning quarter backing. Look at it from an LEO's stand point.

He sees a gun on a person who is near a school. How many school shootings have occurred in recent history. How many of those shooters were considered dangerous at the time? Second, he saw a violation of the law. IF that violation of the law would have violated any body who posted on here, this post would have started, The Stillwater Police did not protect me like they should. So enforcement of laws is only good when done on other people BUT me. Third, there was a DEADLY weapon involved. Action beats reaction, so I am sure he wanted to make sure he went home to his family tonight in the event you weren't the nice guy you are. (Believe it or not, there are turds in this World.) Last, yeah...you were searched and handcuffed. It was for your safety and that of the Officers. (Terry V Ohio)

Sorry this happened to you, our system is very flawed. But the beauty of this system is that it is the BEST system the World has ever or will ever see.
