I discovered this thread just this moment.

If you'll kindly point out where I said "these things don't happen", I would be interested.

I have been around long enough and seen enough to believe that anything could happen; I'm just skeptical until I've heard both sides of any event particularly when the person claiming to be wronged is anonymous and has stated at least one fact that I believe to be incorrect.

That said, I believe the OP broke the law, ran into a police officer who felt he/she needed to act, and wound up not going to jail.

I'm not sure how anyone could be offended.
