Another good opening day, and a cooler full of meat to bring home! The buck fell at 7:30, the doe at 7:45 at the same spot he was shot.

Some people think 350 legend is pointless but man that 180gr SP blew through the shoulders and made a nice big entrance and exit making blood trails easy, the whole 30 yards

My wife, daughter and I got out this morning, late as usual though . About 30 minutes in, this big female appeared out of nowhere it seemed, already staring at us when I spotted her. The 308 didn't do her any favors...

Every time I hunt this is actually what I hope shows up. I will blow a stand for a coyote every time. That is of course if I owned a firearm.

I watched the doe spray blood out of the exit wound with every gallop she took when she bolted, not very far. Literally looked like a sprinkler

That .350Rem mag 200gr Rem Cor-Lokt weighed 125gr when I found it.

Well, @retrieverman willed it into being. Addison had not one, but two shooters in front of her at 5:00pm this evening. She patiently waited for this one to turn broadside. The other had more points, a little more mass, but no where near as mature, tall or wide as this one. The 308 loaded with those 178 gr ELD-X sure work great. 150 yd shot, double lung, no shoulder meat at all and this bruiser only made it about 75 yds. Surprising because the entry wound was about the size of a quarter and the exit was significantly larger than a golfball.

Only problem is that this was the buck her older sister had her heart set on, but she chose to go to a concert this evening rather than hunt. She is just a tad bit upset. That’s hunting though.

Exactly what I said. Her mom asked if we wanted to go to a concert tonight and my response was, “No! That’s deer season.” Addison said the same thing. Ainsley said she wanted to go and the rest, well….
