This whole post makes me giggle.

Wow lots of chevy hate, maybe its because the newer style motor and drive-shaft to me is inferior. I JUST bought a MINT condition 98 suburban with 171k on it with all maintenance records going back since date of purchase off the lot, this truck rides and drives better than any 0 mile 2010 I drove.

Anyone who finances a 40,000$ vehicle and trashes it is stupid, I could have a 200,000 miles 92-99 chevy anything and get a half million out of it, sure a new tranny here or there, new brakes every 2 years minimum is required and other crap pops up but how is 3 grand a year in maintenance more expensive than 3 grand a year in interest on a car I can buy for 10 grand after you are done with it for another 15 years. My point is no 02 chevy with less than 150 should be ready to die, if it is than I feel sorry for your chevy.

Edit: As I was re-reading I noticed most of the chevy's you are speaking about being 4 whell drive, I only have experience with 2wd, anything 4wd is unneeded unless rock crawling or trying to make your own path, and who drives 4x4 for DD and then expects it to last 200k without major maintenance.

Get off my lawn.
I've got a 97 short wide z71 that has been good. Drips a little oil and it's needed some TLC but it runs good and the 5.7 is a better motor than the newer 5.3. I'm getting ready to do the breaks at 150k and it leaks a little oil that is probably valve cover gaskets. Just gave it a complete tune up and k&n filter and it'll break the tires loose on dry pavement now. I'm happy with it. Once I get the breaks done I'm probably gonna put a complete header back exhaust on it. Eventually I'll put a bigger cam in and maybe some heads. Should be a good toy for a long time.

I have a bad taste in my mouth for the chevys for some of the same listed reasons as above from the past. My 02 Dodge 1500 Quad cab 4x4 has 155k miles on it (5.9L) and the only repairs it's had is a water pump and a battery. (besides normal brake maintenence). I'll drive this for another couple of years and then buy a new one. It will be between the Dodge and the Ford super duty and I'm leaning towards the super duty.

Never had a 4 door but the 03 Z71 I had was a great truck. Never gave me any problems, always started right up, not gas friendly but I didn't buy it to save gas. Im also looking to get back in one again soon since the 4 dr jeeps I want cost and arm and a leg, don't know why but ok. Im also looking at a 4 dr F250 diesel. Not sure how good the new body style is but they look nice. Im looking at a 2007 4dr Z71 maybe. Here was mine.

Why does it have a different color hood? Was it wrecked?
