Traffic would be horrible. I think the best chance for survival would be if you lived in the pan handle.
Pantex in Amarillo makes that area a target as well.

Not trying to be a jerk, but it is "Ordnance", not "Ordinance". I have been an Army Ordnance Corps instructor for the past 28 years and it is just a pet peeve of mine when it is spelled wrong.
I thought that was it, but my spellcheck told me I was wrong. Won't let it do that again.

Soviet strategic rocket forces will for sure target Tinker and Altus. Airports in Tulsa and OKC possible. Vance possible. Ft Sill and Mcalester, not strategic targets. If sub-launched from the gulf, very little warning time. Have a look at the book....
Myth: Fallout radiation from a nuclear war would poison the air and all parts of the environment. It would kill everyone. (This is the demoralizing message of On the Beach and many similar pseudoscientific books and articles.)
I don't see why tinker would be a very big strategic target, it's mostly just a sustainment/maintenance facility. Long term it might hurt, but there's not a lot of high value assets stationed there.
Exact reason why Tinker would be ground Zero. As for me hmmm slow painful death due to radiation exposure or vaporized ? Fast trip to Tinker and sit as close to the base as possible. Pop open a beer and some cheese and enjoy being toast.AWACS and TACAMO are pretty high value.....
