Looks like he coated the barrel bushings red. This could lead to trouble as toy pistols have red or orange tips at the end of the barrel. I'd hate to try to explain to an officer why I made my real pistol look like a toy.

Very few states have laws stating that a gun cannot look like a toy, in fact, I only know of Michigan and NY (gotta Love Lauer's Bloomberg line). So I dont have to explain crap to an officer.

On the other hand, I find "toy guns" irresponsible. It teaches children it is a toy and not a tool. IMHO, there should be no such thing as toy guns.
