Most gun Youtubers have little to no firearms training and experience to make an informed recommendation and/or they are compensated financially to say everything is great.

Sootch00 is a great example of this. He seems like a nice guy and his videos have high production quality, but I have never seen him review a gun he didn’t love. Lots of use of words like “game changer”. He also pushes bad body armor, that when I did the math on how much he must make in referral kickbacks it’s in the six figures.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a tough industry where gunmakers won’t send you pre-releases to review if you ever say anything even slightly negative, but that results in having to compromise your morals to recommend something less than optimal that someone may rely on to save their life.

I've been a cop, totin' a pistol for 35 years. Throughout my travels I have discovered that "gun guys" are more arrogant and staunchy but also wishy-washy and fickle than women's clothing designers.

What's hot and popular today, won't be in a few months. If something latest and greatest comes out, the rich guys will buy em and show em off and by the time the poor guys (like me) save up enough, or trade around to get one, they've lost their luster and you can't resell it without taking a helluva loss.

That's why I'm a Glock guy. I can still get em on the blue label at an LE discount. They maintain their value and the aftermarket support (holsters, sights, etc) is incredible. Are there haters? Oh HELL yes. Do I care? Oh HELL no.

Love em or hate em, the damned things work when others won't.

Taurus 24/7 in .40 S&W. Bought it in 2005, and it was a great gun. Shot well, felt good in my hands, and only issues it had were user induced. Was my first pistol, and wish I had it still.

Everyone dogs Taurus, but I have a 24/7 G2, a G3C and a TX22. All have been good.

The TX22 is a great and fun little pistol!

I bought a Ruger synthetic stock 10-22 because all the hype about them.

HATED IT!
Not accurate and jam o matic.

Then I read up on them and they sell all kinds of things to make them accurate.
It's a dang .22 how hard can it be to build a good accurate one.

Model 60 Marlin needs nothing but you to load it and shoot it.

Back in the 80's there was a gun rag that offered fair reviews.
They went to the store and bought off the rack guns and ammo to give honest answers. They became quite popular until they started accepting advertisers.
Their biggest flop was when they said Springfield m1a's were better than Norinco's cause SA bought 8 pages of advertising and Norinco bought none.

My first pistol was a Taurus PT145, loved that little thing. Had to sell it when I was unemployed for a bit.

The first centerfire firearm that I bought was a Ruger P95. I bought it because I could afford it. A lot of guys at the range looked down upon it because it wasn't a 1911 or a Glock (keep in mind that this was almost 25 years ago, and Glocks were the big thing at the time).

It shot well, and it never jammed. While it was not a true target pistol, it shot as well as the other DA/SA pistols that were available at that time. Maybe the pistol accuracy would have been better if I would have received better training when I started shooting. It was only after receiving CMP SAFS training that I became a good shot rather than a fair shot, so I was probably the main problem with regards to the Ruger's accuracy.

I now own many fine pistols, but that Ruger will always be one of my favorites.
Same here, but a P90DC…….it would feed & fire anything you could fit in the magazine.
