Have you ever bought a gun that the majority of guntubers/influencers didn't like?

I buy whatever I want and then look it up later. Although, there have been times that I learn about something that I want because of videos. Like I didn't know that there was a BFR 45/70 till I saw Kentucky Ballistics with one, and you betcha that made my purchase list.

Well, long before UTube, but I have ended up with several really good guns that are now unobtainium. Hi Standard 10B, a Spector Assault 12, and a Bushmaster bullpup 556
I love my M17s. I traded off a CX4 that I also really really liked to get it, so that worked out I suppose, but I wish I could have kept both. :(

Been looking at the Sabre lineup of Dagger pistols from PSA and so far, I've only seen 1 video where the reviewers actually liked the gun. Have you bought something that the internet hated? Did it prove their opinions right or wrong? For me, if I decide I want it, I'm going to get it. I don't care what some guy on youtube thinks that gets free guns or can afford the best of the best. When I bought my M&P40, people told me I would hate shooting the .40 because it was too snappy, I didn't. Before I bought my Remington R1 1911 for around $600, some people said that you couldn't get a decent 1911 for under $800, and it ran better than the Sig 1911 that I paid around $1000 for.

So, what have your experiences been?
The first centerfire firearm that I bought was a Ruger P95. I bought it because I could afford it. A lot of guys at the range looked down upon it because it wasn't a 1911 or a Glock (keep in mind that this was almost 25 years ago, and Glocks were the big thing at the time).

It shot well, and it never jammed. While it was not a true target pistol, it shot as well as the other DA/SA pistols that were available at that time. Maybe the pistol accuracy would have been better if I would have received better training when I started shooting. It was only after receiving CMP SAFS training that I became a good shot rather than a fair shot, so I was probably the main problem with regards to the Ruger's accuracy.

I now own many fine pistols, but that Ruger will always be one of my favorites.
