In 2005, Ruger retooled its Mini-14 manufacturing facility to produce an updated design, improving accuracy on current models.

Ruger makes a good product. I had a Mini-14 for years and the AR bug got me. At 100 yards or less I liked it. Any malfunctions I had were magazine related. It was finicky. Reliable magazines were both expensive and hard to find. It liked Ruger manufactured magazines the best. I had the old GB model with the factory folding stock. I wish I had it back. I don't think you can run enough rounds through one to wear it out.
you made the right choice. A Mini14 or AK will do anything an AR will do....except for the accuracy part. But most you guys cant see past 50 yards anyway!
If your having issues with accuracy, then get the stabalizer arm that fits under the barrel. I put one on mine, and it cut that 4" 100yd group down to 2" an less depending on ammo. Ruger magazines are out there and not as expensive as in the past, so buy a bunch!!
Nice and they serve a purpose. Great truck guns, compact, shoot 223. I had one back in the mid 80's. Had a heck of atime getting my hands on Ruger 30 round mags, but I did. Those were worth some $$$ back then. Dont know what mag availabilty is like for them now.
A rifle that shoots 2" groups at 100 doesn't impress me, and a Mini 14 that consistently shoots that good is a rare bird!!

I've shot a bunch, owned a couple, still own them, never seen one that wasn't "reliable", also have never seen one that will consistently shoot with AR platform rifles.
I'm not saying they are junk, just that they are lacking in the accuracy department.

I like the mini 14 as well and own one. However for reliable accuracy I shoot my ar. I am thinking about doing a trigger job on my mini thinking that it might help the accuracy issue.
