Mini-14's always seemed like the "crappier SKS" equivalent for AR rifles that no one asked for... Mini-14's are usually less accurate out of the box than AR's (unlike SKS which are usually more accurate than AK's) and magazines are both hard to find and expensive. Add to the fact that AR's could be had for a couple of hundred dollars more with the prices of mini-14's these days. /shrug

However, if it's what you want then that's all that matters. Enjoy it and shoot the hell out of it.

Shoot it, if you like it keep it, if you don't, sell it and get an AR. We don't all have the same tastes in guns, that doesn't mean that you bought the wrong gun.

It was $667 at WalMart in Idabel. The least expensive AR was a Windham for I think $799.

Speaking of accuracy, a friend of mine bought the Mini-14 that had the harmonic balancer a couple of years ago. Before we found the sweet spot on the balancer he was about ready to throw it in the trash. Once we found the sweet spot is was an honest under MOA with Black Hills ammo.

Congrats on the rifle. Shoot it and enjoy it. If you don't like it you can always get something else.

I ended up going the opposite way and getting an inexpensive AR. So far I love it.

I really don't care for the AR platform, but been thinking about one for a year or so. I started looking at Mini-14 awhile back and decided that's the choice for me. Bought one tonight.
This is a nice post.

In my way of thinking the Ruger will do anything an AR will and cost less.
This is trolling.

This is the appropriate response.

:D

Congratulations.
