Panic in Year Zero
Stakeland is pretty good except for the vampire stuff. The depiction of people trying to survive some by banning together and others trying to go it alone. The crazies trying to gain control. Bartering goods for services, etc. All seems pretty realistic.

EDIT: Looky what I found! The complete "Panic in the year zero" is on youtube.

So is "The Day After"

Yeah, I liked that one too. Like you say though, vampires added nothing to it. It's a low budget movie, but being low budget really added to the feeling of pocyclipse for me. I have a couple from Netflix headed this way, "The Lost Future" and "The Divide". An oldie but goldie is "On The Beach" with Gregory Peck and ooh la la Ava Gardner.

as far as TV goes, have to agree with 'Jericho'

but after 3 pages of listing movies and comments, nobody has mentioned "Red Dawn" - "Sargeant go to the sporting goods store and get the Forms 4473. Then we will know who has weapons."
