Camo a Mini 14 plastic stock?

I have a nice wood stock for my Mini 14 but if things were to get really bad I think doing a camo job on the old black plastic stock might be a good idea. While the wood stock blends into the woods better than a black plastic stock, in a survival situation camo would be best I think. Also received a Ruger 20rd mag that has some rust on the outside and was thinking of doing it too.

So, best way to paint them and best paint to use? I am a virgin at this so please be gentle.

I am hard on my stuff and Rustoleum Camo has done very well for me on my stocks and my cars.
It is all about the prep if you want paint to stick.
Get the oils off.
