When the Ruger 9mm carbine with the rail first came out Dongs was the only local place that had one in stock. I just went in and bought it. Did they kiss my ***? No. Was the gun new and priced decent? Yes. This idea that everyone has to kiss everyone’s *** in retail stores is beyond my realm of care.

I went in there a few months ago to buy an AR barrel on Armslist and while I was in there some young gangster looking guys came in to buy ammo and that older guy kicked them out. It was interesting.

So here's my question. I've shopped through all the stores in the Tulsa area and some in the OKC area everyone talks about. I don't remember having terrible service or anything exceptional either. I can't imagine the OK shooting community is terrible large so, over the years you'd think either the owners or employees or at least good friends of Dongs and Rijas would have been members of OSA or have heard from fairly close friends or family that people hate shopping at their stores. Do you think they know and just don't care or are they really that ignorant?
Beat me to it.

I remember the first time I went into Dongs,,,
I was on the search for a specific new revolver.

I went in and started looking at all the gear in the aisles,,,
That bald dude followed me the entire time I was in the store.

When I called him on it he said "You look shady."

I showed him the six hundred dollar bills I had brought in case he had the gun I wanted,,,
He got extremely rude when I said I was leaving with all six of them,,,
I honestly don't know how they stay in business.

I typically want to be left alone in a shop, but if I ask a question I don't expect to be barked at. The young guys are typically pretty cool, they don't know as much as they think they do, but better than the old man nonetheless. Either way, there are just too many good choices in Tulsa that don't have 1/4 inch of dust on their stock and discolored plastic, which is very telling on their pricing IMO.

Sometimes Dong's has something you need and you just have to hold your nose and go in. Certainly not my favorite place but they did have a Colt LE6920 in stock and that's what I was looking for at the time. Nobody else had one. Their cash price on a Glock 19 is $35 cheaper than most anyone else and way cheaper than Academy.

Id say my 2 previous purchases there fit this post. However there is NEVER an excuse for a honest purchaser with purchase intent to be treated the way this guy displayed yesterday. No I’m not looking for anyone to treat me special in any way. With cash in hand I do expect RESPECT. I submit we all want and have a right to expect that. It will be a cold day in hell before I’d ever have turned that cash over to this repugnant guy.

I’ve only browsed but never bought. They were as friendly - or unfriendly I guess - as Sooner Guns or the peeps working the counter at Sports World. Nothing remarkable.

My dad did buy some lever action thing from them that no one else could order, and they got it in surprisingly fast and even cheaper than he could get it from some distributor online. And he’s no stranger to ordering a ton online and using FFls. I was somewhat surprised he had a good dealing given what I had heard, but he was pretty complementary about the dude helping him. Younger guy and this was within the last year or two. Maybe they’ve picked up some more helpful staff? Who knows.

I think a large part of their clientele is probably not worried about customer service at dongs. Another place that used to get universally trashed was Tulsa Firearms. I am amazed that place is still in business but I haven't seen any posts about that place in a long time.

Truth is their isn't a single gun store in town I have been to that I think has great service and great prices. You may find one but rarely both consistently.
