This is a very naïve viewpoint. There have been many school shootings already. Never has there been a groundswell protest movement following such a shooting. Until now.... What is the difference this time? Do you assume these kids are self-motivated? Or is it very likely that they have aid from the numerous anti-gun groups out there? The "never let a tragedy go to waste" types have found a new way to get their message out. Let the kids led the charge! Even if their protest goes nowhere, many of these participants will come out of this radicalized, ready to vote against the rights of gun owners. You can count on it.
The election of Trump has set a storm in motion. There have been protests since Inauguration Day. The Left is angry, motivated, well-financed, and focused on winning in 2018 and beyond. This anti-gun student movement is another manifestation of the Left's strategy. Ignore it at your peril.
I don't think you have to look any farther than the fact that they are acting on the behest/direction of their lib dem socialism indoctrinating teacher.

On a national news broadcast this evening they had a student making a statement. It was obvious he was reading a cue card, and IMO just as obvious he wasn't the one that wrote it.

"Okay, I’ll be the bad guy and say what no one else is brave enough to say, but wants to say. I’ll take all the criticism and attacks from everyone because you know what? I’m a TEACHER. I live this life daily. And I wouldn’t do anything else! But I also know daily I could end up in an active shooter situation.
Until we, as a country, are willing to get serious and talk about mental health issues, lack of available care for the mental health issues, lack of discipline in the home, horrendous lack of parental support when the schools are trying to control horrible behavior at school (oh no! Not MY KID. What did YOU do to cause my kid to react that way?), lack of moral values, and yes, I’ll say it-violent video games that take away all sensitivity to ANY compassion for others’ lives, as well as reality TV that makes it commonplace for people to constantly scream up in each others’ faces and not value any other person but themselves, we will have a gun problem in school. Somebody needs to remind the young lady with the short hair in the group of students from Florida about the the incidents in China from 2010-2012, and how the problem was solved. She commented this morning on the news when interviewed that "if he (Nikolas Cruz) wouldn't have had a gun, he wouldn't have killed as many people". I can't find the interview where she spoke with the other students, I believe she mentioned that he wouldn't have killed as many with a knife.
