I think George Strait is an acquired taste. I never really appreciated his stuff until I had many years under my belt, Pink Floyd was the same way.

I don't think I have ever heard a bad George Strait song ... and God can that man wear a pair of jeans ... **sigh** :P

George is the reason I found cowboys ... before that I was a hippy, free-love kinda chick ... :hey3:

My wife agrees with you she says "George Strait is the ultimate panty dropper"

I prefer David Allan Coe. :anyone:

Heard his "xrated" album(s)?

I think "lay me down some rails" has the most racist line ever put to music... I have a hard time taking DAC as anything other than a novelty act that had a funny song or two. I just can't put him in the same class a Strait, Wills, Haggard, Waylon, Willie or Cash

I think DAC's offensive image was an act/satire.

In fact, it's pretty obvious it's an act with some of his outrageous lies about his past. It's a stage persona and some of it is meant to be satirical, albeit horribly offensive.

But you really can't deny his contributions to country music. The dude wrote MANY great songs, was good performer in his prime, and left a lasting mark on country music. Watch Heartworn Highways if you've never seen it.

My favorite DAC song: Spotlight

And I can't put Straight in a class with Haggard, Waylon, Willie, Cash, Jones, Paycheck, Shaver, Clark...etc....
