Email sent. Though I wasn't quite as nice as some. I plainly stated that the the people of Oklahoma want this, as evidenced by it's overwhelming passage in the House and Senate, and it is his duty to sign it into law.

If I'm asked to leave, I'll leave. Unless I'm presented a bill/check, then I'm out the door and assume there is no charge. I don't have to stand around at that point and wait for a goodbye hug. Being asked to leave means leave. But I really doubt any manager in his right mind is going to ask you to leave and then shove a bill in your face. But if he does, I'll just ask for a doggie bag and go.

This is what I'd do, also. I might even pull out my spare magazine and leave a round on the table for a tip. :D Naaaa. They're too expensive.

Hypothetical situation for you.

It's November 2nd, 2010. It's a cold day so you have a jacket on, concealing your sidearm. You and the wife decide to go out to eat. You get to the restaurant and since there is no "no firearms" sticker on the door, you keep your gun on you and go in. It's quite warm inside so you take your jacket off and sit down to eat. Halfway thru your meal, someone notices your pistol and complains to the management. The manager confronts you and tells you that you have to leave the establishment.

Do you,

A: pay for your partially eaten meal, put your jacket on, and quietly leave the restaurant.
B: quietly leave the restaurant without paying for your partially eaten meal.
C: Discuss the issue with the manager, explaining that since there was no signs on the doors, that you're completely within your rights to carry your pistol and refuse to leave until you've finished your meal.
D: Get up to leave but quite loudly let your feelings known about the 2nd ammendment and threaten to never eat there again.
E: Leave, but bust a cap on the complaining party on the way out. (JOKE!!!!!)

(I know this should have been a poll, but I figured it would make for good conversation until someone decides to do something meaningful with this bill)

I don't believe they will ask you to leave, or make a scene.

They will just put a No firearms sign up or if we are lucky (No open carry). Then call the police on you if you come back open carrying, or inform you of their new policy on your second visit.

If a person complains they might tell them they aren't breaking the law, and no current company policy. and offer to move them to another table if one is available.

or ask you to conceal it.

I just called and left a polite message encouraging Gov. Henry to sign this bill into law. I mentioned 11 other states have open carry, and the 2nd Amendment guarantees us RKBA, and, open carry will allow citizens to choose, and it won't make it a crime to accidentally expose our pistols if our shirts ride up while carrying concealed.

If you are asked to leave and don't you are violating the law. I would ask the manager to allow me to finish, if not please allow me the time to either store the gun in the vehicle or to give me to go boxes.

Theres really not another choice to the ordeal.

However I suspect that most people would see a properly holstered gun and just assume you are a plain clothes cop eating with your family. Most probably won't give much of a fuss.

Does anyone have Governor Henry's e-mail address? My computer crashes when I try to visit the website that allows comments, this is what I want to send:

Dear Governor Henry,

The purpose of this letter is to encourage and support you on signing HB 3354 Open Carry bill into law and further support our God given right to defend ourselves with the use of firearms. The only tool that will level the playing field between a frail senior and a young thug criminal intending to do harm is a firearm. Had past Governor Nigh been armed, he and his wife would not have been defenseless victims. Had he been carrying openly, the thug that assaulted him might have reconsidered before assaulting and stealing his personal belongings. As it stands, this criminal is free to repeat his assault on other defenseless victims. No amount of police can protect every citizen, as witnessed by the assault on our past Governor. Citizens deserve the ability to defend and protect themselves.

Please sign HB 3354 to make Oklahoma the 44th state to allow open carry! Oklahomans deserve no less than the rights that other states affirm for their citizens.

Open carry is a valuable individual right and has not endangered police officers in the 43 states that allow it, including America's great cities, from Atlanta, to Richmond, to Pittsburgh, to Toledo, to Seattle, and beyond.

In fact, police officers in Georgia have recently reported that open carry deterred a violent armed robbery.* See http://www.examiner.com/x-5619-Atlan...ry-in-Kennesaw

Please visit www.opencarry.org to learn about the 43 United States that allow Open Carry. This is more than just a firearm issue, this is about preserving and exercising the rights granted to us by God and affirmed by the Constitution of the United States. The right to keep and bear arms (RKBA) insures that our great nation will forever remain free.

This issue is very important to me and others.

Please demonstrate your support of the U.S. Constitution and sign this bill into law so we can defend and protect ourselves. This was the intent of our Founding Fathers.

Please let me know what you plan to do.

Sincerely,
