I am borrowing my friends F-150 to go pick up a gun safe. So how do I go about removing the tailgate? I am unsure of the exact model year but it is a later model Ford. Probably 2010-2012
just detatch the hanger cables and lift up in a partially closed position.
As others have said, detach the restraining cables first, open the gate to about a 30 deg angle, and lift up on the right side of the gate.
