I hate it when the news wants opinions on gun laws.

Better yet, it shows you how ignorant and oblivious the general population is. It's obvious that many, I'd even say the majority, of the nay-sayers don't even realize that Oklahomans have been carrying concealed firearms since what, 1996? Proven with the repetitious, "I don't want to be in a store with some Joe Blow carrying a gun. Now where can I shop and feel safe? Wild West!"

Anyone who openly carries deserves the negative attention it will draw... I can appreciate that I don't have to worry about printing/flashing/accidentally showing my carry weapon, but I can't wait to just watch those "Duke's" out there... Walking around like self proclaimed bad@sses... Feeling all tough, oblivious they've just become the first target. I can't wait to watch.

I really dont understand the outright hatred that many of you show towards the people that may choose to open carry, which will be perfectly legal in a few days. Many of you are worse than the anti gun crowd.

I am curious, would you anti open carry people go around to the rest of the states that already have open carry and call their citizens stupid idiots who are making up for the size of their manhood with a flashy gun and wish ill agains them, or is this a strictly a Okie thing?

The problem is that Oklahoma is making the transition overnight from a non-open-carry state to an open-carry state; I think most of the folks here are expressing concern about individuals who go about on Nov. 1 with heat openly carried on the hip will needlessly polarize folks who might otherwise be neutral on the issue. I'm in favor of the open carry law in the sense that I can now carry concealed without worrying about printing or accidentally exposing my firearm, and I think many folks in OK would be fine with that. Baby steps work better than getting up into people's grills where the open-carry law is concerned.

Nice chip on your shoulder, but no where in that paragraph you quoted are the words "hate", "Stupid", or "Idiot", nor did he refer to the size of anyone's manhood.

There are way too many people in the shooting community (hell, on this board for that matter) who tell stories that scare the crap out of me to know they actually own/handle guns - its obvious from many of the attitudes/posts here that a lot of folks use their gun as an extension of their ego (i.e., they go looking for trouble with it, where as without it, they might go out of their way to avoid it). I've been in public places and seen/heard people show their CCW to someone they just met as if to impress them - I'm sorry, but that is just colossally stupid.

Seems like a lot of Open-Carry folks can't wait to get some of that attention, and you have to know that some of that attention won't be positive. Yet those very folks are the first to complain about how everyone "hates them" or "is against them". Guess what - those folks who are trying to warn you to watch your attitude/actions are your friends, not your enemies...
