I prefer to shy away from commenting on personal doings but this one is one I'm feeling very blessed for. I started out with dark Pee for several weeks then stomach pain in Oct. The Dr sent me for a CT scan on Oct 31. They noticed that the bile duct was dilated so a stone blocking the duck was suspected.
Had to wait a week to get scheduled for that and the pain meter just about pegged.

Got the stone removed but they came back & said go get cleared with your heart Dr for gall bladder removal & when you get that we need to remove it right away. Went in to surgery at 9 am and got out at 12:30. Was supposed to take 45 min. I KNOW my Wife went through a lot during that time.

What they found on the laproscopy was that the GB was connected to my stomach and colon. They had to cut some of both to get it out. I stayed an extra day in hosp then came home. Feeling better and off the oxycodones now. (Just don't cough, right? <G>)

So I searched the condition I had and found only two others. One was like mine & was in 2009. The other was Cong. John Murtha. His surgery failed at completely closing off the colon. It went South from there and after developing a fever he reentered the hosp & died a few days later. I'm one lucky dude and that made for a Great Christmas for me & my family.

I went through something like this about a year and a half ago. Was being treated for various ills by the local quack in a box and finally asked them to do blood work. It came back with an extremely high white count. After going for gall bladder tests which the tech stopped in mid point because nothing was going in, they sent me back to get surgery scheduled. My local doc in a box dropped the ball big time. After a week of waiting for info, I
called to find out what the treatment was going to be and was told there was nothing wrong with me. Wife kicked me in the butt and got me to another doc, who got test results from the hospital and scheduled me for surgery. had to wait a week for the aspirin I take to get out of my system. When the surgeon got in, he found a necrotic gall bladder which had caused an abcess in the colon. He removed 6 inches of colon and after a week sent me home. two more weeks and I was running a high fever. Wife took me back to emergency room and I was re-admitted. After trying antibiotics in an IV 4 times a day for two weeks, the surgeon went back in and removed another two inches of colon. That part went well, but I contracted an infection in the muscle tissue in the abdomen. I spent the next two months packing the wound until it all healed. I can tell you that if it wasn't for prayer and God, and a good surgeon, I wouldn't be here today. My surgeon said he had never seen anyone in as bad shape stand before him and talk. I guess I have a high pain tolerance. Glad you came out OK.. Blitzfike

Thank you for the reply Blitzfike. Sorry for all that you went through! No doubt that when you get beyond the pill pushers down at the local clinic there are some of the finest practioners of medicine found anywhere in OK.

Thank god and both your "good" doctors for the excellent job. Glad to hear both of you are doing well. They have mentioned my galbladder a few times. Now I am worrried.

Well as Blitzfike mentioned, the blood work will tell the tale if you're GB isn't OK. I could have missed a lot of the pain I had if I'd checked up on the discolored urine sooner. 95% of the GB procedures now are safe but there is a risk any time you go in there.
BTW, there's also a risk of it doing a full blowout like an appendix. That's the reason I went on to have mine removed. Once the stone was out of the bile duct I felt great.
