Apple writes open source stuff. Guess you better ditch OS X.

I wasn't referring to somebody making their stuff available to developers. Android has the same issues that Microsoft does in that there are too many different hardware platforms to make it work well on all of them. And then there's the apps. Who tests out the stuff on Google Play? Because I've seen chimps that could do a better job. :D

You're referring to fragmentation and it is a serious problem with Android.

You inferred that being open source had some relation to the quality of the software, which is untrue. Developers publish open source applications for the iPhone, and many of the same open source apps are published on Android and iOS. Even Apple writes open source software.

My wife's phone had so many problems with iOS5, it's evident that there are monkeys everywhere.

You guys remember when phones couldn't get small enough? I liked that.

The S3 is huge.

For a run of the mill user like me, the Iphone gets the call for me. Most likely because I just get the hand me downs from my wife when we upgrade either her or my contract. She always gets the new phone and I get the hand me down. It works well because she treats them like gold and historically I have been hard on phones.

Well technically you are right. Quality and testing procedures vary widely from developer to developer, some are good, some aren't. That's a lot more evident on Google Play vs. the App Store in my experience. From what I've seen if your stuff doesn't work it won't be in the App Store for very long. It's good that Android is working for folks. Competition keeps them all on their toes. The guy that sold me my iPhone was really trying hard to sell me a Windows phone. I said oh :hellno:
