I’d like to know how important Juneteenth was last year and if anyone did anything to celebrate it? The freeing of slaves by the republicans from the Democrats should be celebrated. Some blacks are now thinking for themselves and leaving the Democratic plantation of welfare entitlements. Unfortunately, many of them and an increasing number of white people are like sheep that only matter when it’s time to vote.

It's always a big event/celebration in Tulsa that happens every year.

I support the holiday for it's American historical significance. I don't support forcing everyone to do so. Something, something, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and all that...

It’s been celebrated in Texas for as long as I can remember.

First time I heard of it, I had just moved to Corpus. As small a population of black people that live there, it was a huge celebration. Almost every big town I've lived in since has some sort of celebration for it. Turns out, I just had to remove my blinders.

I support the ending of slavery and celebrating all the efforts that made it possible. Gratitude is essential for a celebration of this sort. Time to ponder who made it possible and how it cam to pass.
