I wouldn’t take a shot further than 100 yards with my 16” ar15 in 223 on a deer, I would really prefer it to be closer, a coyote would be a different story.
I'm getting excited about this long range deal. I hope it works out to where I can make it whenever and wherever it happens. I'm going to use my PSA 16" AR-15 with a 1:7 twist barrel. I only have a POS 6-24x50 Mil-Dot 2nd focal plane scope to use but I think that if I can get it to zero at 100 and just hold over from there and not adjust anything I might be able to make it work out to ??? yards on 6X. Hopefully I will get some range time soon to try that theory out. If it won't hold zero I'll just use my 1X red dot and hope I can see the target past 100 yards. In the mean time I need to try several different factory ammo loads to see what this rifle likes best.
I've been watching these videos lately. A LOT of information to take in but I find it interesting. Sniper 101 ( literally 101 videos) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJUaiRIEduNXoal2_PkBZi0vDCIcEPxUn
