The only (and this is a shot in the dark) chance would be to see what their "certified pre-owned" paperwork entails. If it specifically lists accidents, you might be able to pursue it with them (or if it is a Chrysler certified used car and Chrysler were to be told of what happened and their guidelines specify accidents) then maybe you can use some of tha manufacturer's muscle to lean on the dealership. It's often the only power that individual dealerships respect.

Lesson learned though as carfax is always worth the money. Always.

Hey, they may not have to disclose the information about accidents/wrecks etc., but when they are asked about it, they cannot lie to you.

I would almost guarantee they ran a carfax on that Jeep before you bought it, this is almost standard procedure for all dealers. Bottom line is he lied to you about the previous wreck whether he knew or not.

I bought my van knowing it had been wrecked. Then asked to have a carfax ran on it so see what it said .... it found nothing. Dont put all your hopes in carfax.

Carfax is dependent on police reports and insurance claims (and other info sources). If you wreck it and fix it via shade-tree or do it your self, it won't show up.

And obviously stuff slips through the cracks of those info sources as well, but its still always worth the price.

I can tell if a car has been repaired paint wise pretty easily, the work these days isn't very good no matter where you go. Look for tape lines, color/texture differences, etc.

This has been discussed a number of times though, buying cars like most anything else is buyer beware, can't hardly be upset with the Dealer when you didn't do your homework. When it comes to car dealers it is best to assume they are always lying and trying to screw you, even if they aren't......

What are you hoping to get out of this to make things right? How much money will square the deal for you? You need to know this before you approach them.

Just know that without any form of contract or written statement from them on the condition of the car, I doubt you will get anything or have any legal recourse. Even the salesman's statement about not buying wrecked cars is subjective. I would imagine to them wrecked = salvage or rebuilt title.
