Dennis, how about looking at your persimmon seeds. They're actually pretty accurate at telling how many cold snaps will happen throught the winter.

They are dropping now. I'll have to flush a half dozen deer off of them to get one(and maybe ol' number 93 heifer that keeps jumping the fence and feeding on them and our yard.).
I remember that they are pretty accuate, but don't remember how to tell.
Refresh us if you don't mind.

Edit: you beat me to it.

LOL! Okie570 and I talked about this same subject today!

I'm not sure there is a country kid out there that hasn't been duped by a friend or relative into eating a green one.
You never will again. :D

I had coyotes eating persimmons last year but haven't seen any deer show up yet. My one tree really produced this year, branches are all hanging down due to the heavy fruit.

Oh yeah, the coyotes love them!
My dogs do too. They poop huge piles of seeds.

I made it down to the grove and brought back three. Our trees have very little fruit this year, compared to yours.
I didn't see any seeds at all like the link. I sliced two length wise, and one horizontally. These are ripe fruit. The pic seems to be a green one, early in the growing season?
