Cool, we will be on the triumph.

That's the one we were on a couple of months ago. Not sure if you've never been on the Triumph or not, but we were worried when reading reviews saying that it was severely outdated and crappy in decor and furnishings, but if this ship is outdated then I'd love to see a modernized ship. We thought it was beautiful inside and we had a blast. We had a balcony room and there was nothing better than propping open the door and falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the ocean. One of our best vacations ever.

I lived in Galveston for 5 years and Houston for 10.

I'm a little confused, are you taking I-35 to Waco or Austin, then cutting East to Houston, then to Galveston? Or are you taking I-35 to Dallas, then I-45 to Galveston?

The Waco/Austin way...is longer and in Austin you have museums to good drinkin' bars. You could always visit Shiner Brewery.

I'd take I-45 to Galveston and then site see "G" town. Moody Mansion, Bishop's house, Moody Gardens...aquarium,animals, I-Max, all in one. Eat at Gauido's on the Seawall(Gulf side) also eat at Willie G's....its next to the peir where you'll board your ship. Take a ride on the ferry from Galveston to Bolivar and back....give yourself some time on this...its out of season time and the ferry might be running slow. You'll usually see a few dolphins and lots of jellyfish. Back of the ferry, toss a few pieces of bread to the seagulls...secretly. Go see the submarine at seawolf park...can't remember the name of it.

Where the old flagship hotel was there is a pleasure pier...rides.

Side note: If you tour Galveston notice the San Louis Hotel, Landry's Pleasure Pier, Willie G's, Salt Grass, Rain Forest Cafe. There is man (Tillman Fretti)...I know I spelled his name wrong...sorry.
He owns Kemah..restaurants on the bay, the Bently,Rolls Royce dealership in Houston and
a ton of other restaurants...The Landry Corporation. He use to own all the Joe's Crab Shacks...he sold them all to by the Golden Nugget in Vegas and Tahoe/Reno. His family along with the Moody's and Gaudio family started Galveston way back when.

At the Moody hotel the upper floor use to be empty, waiting for Texas to legalize casinos...he may help push casinos into Texas. You always know if he's in Galveston, his helicopter is parked in front of the San Louis Hotel.

2nd time this year for us. We wanted to do a 7 day this time but the
couple that's going with us couldn't. We had a blast last time and can't
Wait to head down there again. By the way, we have already put money
down on another one, the magic, in May
