I want to get into revolvers and I'm planning on purchasing my 1st revolver soon. I just wanted to get some opinions from the Ok shooting community:
I have very little experience shooting revolvers and this will most likely just be a range gun; any particular suggestions for a good starter?
I will try to buy used if there are some good deals, so what kind of things should I be looking for when examining a used revolver?
I'm not familiar with the gun shops in the Tulsa area; can anyone recommend some worth checking out?
And finally, I'm a Texas resident only stationed here for a few months. Are there any particular hurdles for purchasing a firearm in Ok as an out-of-state resident besides just having it shipped to a FFL dealer in Texas?

Thanks for any and all help.

For a first revolver, I'd go with an S&W or a Ruger. The Model 15 is good suggestion since it had adjustable sights. If you are wanting one for a fun range gun, I wouldn't choose a J frame Smith. Another good choice would be the Smith Model 66. Ruger GP100s are also good.

As far as what to look for on used revolvers, I'm sure you'll find some online guides. Primarily you'll be interested in cylinder timing.

Not sure what the rules are for out of state buyers but the FFLs on the board could answer that.

Local gun shops in Tulsa that carry revolvers? Hmm.. Sooner Guns and Second Hand Rose Pawn come to mind.

I would try to find a way to "test drive" some.
I like revolvers with long barrels and big butts.
The skinny butts I don't care for at all, oh, wait I thought this was the best looking woman thread. Ok, it still applies.

Ruger security six .357. This was the first non 22 pistol I ever shot. I remember dad letting me shoot it with some 38's when I was 8 or so. I felt like such a big kid! Great pistol and you should be able to find one at a decent price.
