Lemeetellyou, Shingles ain't fun! Mine was in my nether regions and I lost a lot of nerves and still have deep pain in those areas when touched. It has almost been a year. I had to wait three moths to get the shots. I sincerely believe the Shingles I had severely hit my system causing my other neurological problems.

If you had Chicken Pox as a kid, get the shots.

Remembering back, our moms got together and had Chicken Pox and Measles parties for us kids. They found out what kid had the disease and threw a party for the infected kid, bringing their kids just to get it over with

A friend of mine that retire from the PCPD took the Shingrix shot. He had the reaction from hell. He show me pictures of his arms that looked like he had a flesh-eating virus. I think it left him with permanent scars. I know the shingles are bad but, that bad of a reaction looked worst.

I had my first of two shingles vaccines 3 months ago. Other than injection site soreness, no problems. Went back to the VA clinic Friday morning for the second. By mid-afternoon Saturday I was feeling achy and run down...not really bad, but enough to notice and to think I might be coming down with something. Then I remembered the shot. The nurse who gave me the shot didn't mention any possible reactions or side-effects so I wasn't really expecting anything.

I looked up typical reactions to the vaccine. This is what I found and what I experienced:

Injection site pain/redness/swelling? Yes
Injection site itching? No
Fever? Yes...mild
Chills? Yes
Muscle pain? Yes
Joint pain? Yes
Fatigue? Yes
Headache? No
Dizziness? No
Upset stomach? No

From what I'm reading the current vaccine is called Shingrix. Apparently this vaccine seems to have more side-effects than the other, Zostavax, (which are no longer used in the US) and they're often worse with the second shot.

I took some Nyquil Severe Cold & Flu around 7:30pm and went to bed around 8pm. Got back up around 10pm and felt much better...so the side-effects for me were pretty mild and short-lived. I feel back to normal today but seem to have a slight cough.

Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone considering the vaccine.
I got the 2nd Shingrix & and an RSV shot January 14th. Spent the next two weeks sick. And I'd just gotten over a cold/flu/covid/plague the week before... feeling fine today, though. Hang in there, it should get better! Alka-seltzer extreme, Emergen-C, and generic nyquil/dayquil here. Whole house was under the weather.

Was deployed for an exercise in North Africa in the mid-90s, and one of my coworkers got shingles EVERYWHERE! Including his eyes. Got medevaced out, and we never saw him again.

When I got it, a dozen years ago, it was a band around my chest about 3" wide. Had it all scratched open before I even realized it. But it also made me feel, once again, a great deal of sympathy for my colleague.

Getting shingles terrifies me after having an absolutely terrible bout of chicken pox when I was 21 (inside my nose and ears, on my naughty bits) . I'm 41 now, but with all of the horror stories about getting shingles in your eyes, bottoms of your feet, around your waist, etc, I'm considering talking to the doc about getting the vaccine even though I'm technically not old enough.

I had chicken pox so badly when I was a kid that they were afraid for a while I had smallpox. They told my Mom to keep an eye on the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet. My Mom had a terrible case of shingles a few years after that. She was totally miserable. I have had the Shingrex vaccine. So far, so good. 🙏 🤞
