As I see it, I am going to have to vote for the one
I think everyone here has already made their mind up who to vote for so there's not much point in attempting to sway votes here on this forum and I'm not suggesting that.

We can still point out when a politician makes a fool of himself when it happens though can't we? :anyone:

Mark my words.

Between now and Nov 6th Romney will 'evolve' to state that he never vowed to fire big bird.
He was just going to eliminate his job through attrition.

You heard it here first.

He didn't. Apparently you weren't listening very closely. He said he'd eliminate public funding for PBS. PBS has a very robust public donation campaign. If they want to stay in business, they can always step up their donation drive. Stopping public funding of PBS doesn't mean an absolute end to PBS. If all the soccer moms want Big Bird on PBS for their kids because they think it's a higher quality children's program, they can put their money where their mouths are and write a check to PBS. Problem is, they don't want it badly enough to write that check, when Uncle Sam has been taking their money and writing it for them all these years. Out of sight, out of mind. Big Bird can always polish up his resume and take his show to another channel as well. Acting like Romney is going to fire Big Bird is just hyperbole and rhetoric.

You can and should do better than this if you want to make your point. :)

"Acting like Romney is going to fire Big Bird is just hyperbole and rhetoric" introduced by Romney. He said it, Hobbes didn't. It's the only budget cut Romney can come up with, really. Sort of like trimming the toe nails in an attempt to lose weight. On the bright side, Big Bird only has to worry about his funding in poor backwards-ass states.

Absolutely. Just be sure to cover them both.

No, he didn't.

"I'm sorry, Jim, I'm going to stop the subsidy to PBS. “I like PBS, I love Big Bird. Actually like you too. But I'm not going to keep on spending money on things to borrow money from China to pay for."

I repeat, he did not say he was going to fire Big Bird. Hobbes said it, he didn't. If you had any traction on the subject, it would be the fact that China only owns about 8% of the U.S. debt. But that's not what you and Hobbes based your argument on, because it doesn't have the same propaganda effect that firing Big Bird does. :(

No, that actually came from the Pieport of Zed the day after his abject failure at debating. Romnah said he would trim the useless Agitprop PBS organization. You know, if you think about it, the decay in values and knowledge in this country can be traced back to the timeframe of the first appearance of his program.

Maybe Romnah is on to something....
