I think most of the Senators & Reps like to head for home on Fridays. Maybe some of their staff will be there to take messages.. which is what most of us have been doing anyway.. leaving messages. More than likely you would get a answering machine later today. The Senate's agenda for Monday has been posted already.. no changes of importance yet.

A question for the legislative wonks that know all the time deadlines for acting on bills.... what is the chance that the delay in bringing SB1733 to the floor for a vote is so that it won't hit the Governor's desk too soon? I get the feeling that this is deliberately being timed so that the bill hits her desk.. so that she won't have to sign it.. just take no action and let it become law.. at the very end of the session. That way she can go into her next election for governor or for senator saying that she just let the legislature speak on open carry and bowed to their will... and thus deflect some of anti-gun attention away from herself. It would be lot easier to dilute the anti-gun crowd's anger across the members of legislature than one governor. Just a thought.

I think it will pass with flying colors.

It should, but as we know our politicians they have, as we have seen the unmistakable ability, at the last minute sabotage a bill and do stupid crap to them. I am still going to email the Senators in my district and encourage them to ask Senator Sykes to hear the bill and have the final fourth vote. As for our Governor I have not heard if she has ever commented one way or the other on either SB 1733 or the HB 2522. I don't believe she would veto either one.

Once she gets a bill when the legislature is in session, she has 5 days (excluding Sunday) to sign or it becomes law. Once the legislature is out of session, it goes to 15 days (excluding Saturday and Sunday).

I think one call per person should be sufficient, respectfully done. Flooding and harassing may have a negative effect. Instead maybe get 3-4 friends to call.
Multiple calls from one person may label them as a trouble maker.
You are right. Now that I think about it it probably would make them mad that I call them all day long. I am going to tell a few people that I work with to give Senator Sykes a call. Hopefully they will. I know that one will because he is a fan of open carry.

I read on one of the news websites, ( I can't remember if it was news9 or what) that Governor Fallin favors a "responsible" carry bill. I truly believe that SB 1733 is the right bill for our governor to sign.

That's one reason why many of us prefer to see this bill this year even though we would rather see constitutional carry. Constitutional carry could easily be spun as not responsible since there would be no background check or training. Even though I would rather see constitutional carry, I think this is a good first step to prove to the fearful/fearmongers that law abiding citizens are responsible.
